A new survey of Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli’s constituents shows that 65 percent support maintaining a high-speed route through Syracuse, rejecting a community grid option to replace the existing Interstate 81.
The survey of 1,101 residents showed that 49 percent support rebuilding the viaduct, while another 16 percent support building a tunnel-street hybrid solution. Just 35 percent support the community grid alone. The majority support for a high-speed option held true among residents in Syracuse, Geddes and Van Buren.
The Save 81 coalition is supportive of maintaining high-speed access into and through Syracuse, either by rebuilding the viaduct or constructing a tunnel-street hybrid.
